This dark chocolate mascarpone frosting is rich, silky, and packed with deep chocolate flavor.
If you’ve tried my whipped chocolate mascarpone frosting, which has more cocoa powder, this version is a little different—it uses more chocolate, less cocoa, but follows the same method.
It starts with a chocolate syrup made from sugar, a little cocoa powder, lots of dark chocolate, coffee, and a touch of sea salt flakes.
This step creates a thick, glossy chocolate base, which is then blended with mascarpone and heavy cream, turning it into an incredibly smooth, melt-in-your-mouth frosting.
Because this version has more dark chocolate, it has a glossier, silkier texture compared to my whipped chocolate mascarpone frosting, which is thicker and more intense due to the extra cocoa powder.
Both are crazy delicious, but this one has that luxurious, ganache-like feel while still being light and airy.
This frosting pipes beautifully, holds up well on cakes and cupcakes, and adds the perfect bittersweet chocolate richness to any dessert.
If you’re after a dark chocolate frosting with a velvety-smooth, irresistible texture, this is the one!
