Our friendship started by chance when I visited
Nashville, Tennessee for the American Country Music
Awards. A friend and I approached a woman who
looked exactly like one of the actresses from the
80’s TV-show Knots Landing, and we started talking.
Well, she wasn’t a movie star, but she turned out to be
one of the kindest, most caring people I think I could
ever meet. I told her we were going back to Atlanta in
two days, and she said “I live in Atlanta! Why don’t
you guys drive back with me?” I reminded her that
we were staying two more days in Nashville.
“Oh, I can wait for two days”, she replied. My immediate
thoughts were:
Our meeting that day quickly turned the corner to
friendship as we shared our stories on the car ride
to Atlanta. I told her that I was a stay-at-home-mum
for 18 years until a tragic event changed everything.
My husband suffered a stroke and my whole life was
permanently altered, I felt that all was lost. Melissa
told me about her life as a depressed housewife who
was completely out of balance. Despite her beautiful
family, amazing home, and financial security she felt
something was missing. Instead of treasuring this life,
she just wanted the days to go away.
