Gingerbread cookies are the perfect canvases. Bake them in a variety of holiday shapes and invite the
children to select the shapes they’d like to embellish and adorn. Have some pretty boxes ready for
storage when the masterpieces are done.

TIPS FOR DECORATING WITH KIDS:
Clear a large work space for decorating, and another space for the finished cookies.
Make sure you have enough aprons, plus plenty of kitchen towels on hand.
If some of the children’s friends are included in the “decorating party”, don’t forget to invite one or two
extra adults for company, and to assist you with the supervision.
Divide icing, candies, sprinkles and other decorations among small bowls.
Have pitchers of drinking water and bowls of apple wedges and tangerine segments on hand for snacking,
that way you may have some cookies left for decorating!
Let the children work at their own pace and according to their age and skill level. It’s the process that’s
 fulfilling and fun.
